Hello All,
I am happy to say that my book is really starting to come together. In the last few weeks I have gotten my interview with Bonnie Raitt. I waited 2 1/2 years for that one and now I know the rest is gravy. There are only about twenty more interview that I really want to get finished and by that time I should be at about one hundred all together. I have hired a personal assistant to help with administration and research and a young journalism grad, Elizabeth Howell, to edit my chapters and get the book ready for shopping to literary agents.
I know I could have shopped this book a long time ago but until now I didn't want anyone else involved with it. It has been very important to me that the process of interviewing and writing keep it's integrity and since I am new at this literary game I have been very protective of the message of this book and of the women who I have spoken with. I am also considering self publishing as an option.
I went on the road to Europe about a week or so ago and I decided to print out some chapters and bring them with me. I was so blown away to actually hold a manuscript in my hand. For the last seven years I have only worked on my computer with my various files strewn everywhere and though I knew I was writing a book it never felt like one until I held it. It's a large manuscript and there are so many great players to document that it could easily be twice the size it is now and I still wouldn't be finished. I know I could work another five to ten years on this and still miss someone but I am determined to get it finished this year.
And I am closer than I thought.
Stay tuned, things are moving fast.

Besos
Hi,
You didn't give the name of the book you're writing... OK, I guess "Guitar Woman" (I thought that was you). I love Bonnie and country & jazz music. I'm a 30 yr. jazz pianist with a CD published on Amazon.
You didn't happen to get an interview with Mary Chapin Carpenter, did you? She was responsible for me getting interested in country in the 90's.
You look great with that guitar. Curious where to hear your music, if recorded?
Good luck, michael guy l'ecluse, pianist/songwriter: CD: August Ocean Overture
What a coincidence.
I wrote a song that I posted on Flickr, and someone said it reminded him of you. My life is spectacularly lacking, it seems, because I had my first BLT today (after living for nearly 46 years), and I also heard you for the first time.
You will not take his comment as such a big compliment, but I did. :-)
I wrote a book about cake that is being published by Simon & Schuster. I did all that writing and interview-gathering and research and editing and shopping. I wound up with a great agent and a terrific book contract.
I don't want to go into all the other coincidences, but I would be happy to offer you any help I can. If you write to me at dogfaceboy@gmail.com, I'll also tell you the rest of the story.
Good luck with everything.
Thanks for doing this, I can't wait until it comes out.(If it has not already) You've probably heard of Badi Assad from Brazil?

I've heard of your great project before and wish you success with it. I think I've just heard you on the radio, on CBC's Saturday Night Blues. It reminds me that I bought an instructional DVD by Mimi Fox a few years ago. Every once in a while I study some of her material. Her comping chops are unbelievable. She's also an outstanding teacher. I just like her so much. She brings a lot of freshness and intelligence to the world of jazz guitar... She's a great "guitar woman" too... Cheers!
Its been a while since the last post. What are the news for the book? I´m really looking forward to it. There is a guitar magazine here in sweden who NEVER write about female guitarplayers. Its really super ridiculous. I just want to say that I, as a sort of guitarplayer, have found a great influence and inspiration in Sue Foleys sensitive non-plectrum style. Keep it up, and finish that book!
